"For almost six months working as an HR Intern, in my opinion, the coolest job is doing the end-to-end recruitment process, especially when screening candidate’s cv and interview stage."

What do you do at your job?

From July 2021 until now, I have had the opportunity to become an HR intern at Payfazz. Payfazz or Fazz Financial Group (FFG) is a start-up engaged in the financial sector that has more than 10 products with different functions. My daily activities as an HR Intern include

  • Conducting end-to-end recruitment processes from job posting to onboarding processes,
  • Being responsible for the presence of other internals from various divisions, such as for required data,
  • Running programs 1on1 with another intern to do a check up on the work being carried out and to be a friend to tell if there are complaints that are felt,
  • Design and implement a bonding program for all interns children every 2 months, and
  • Be responsible for conducting employer branding on Instagram @lifeatfazz by creating interesting content

Of the five jobs, I feel that each job has its charm. For example, when conducting end-to-end recruitment, the process is interesting because it is quite challenging when it comes to selecting the best candidate and then proceeding to the next stage. During my work, I enjoy being surrounded by supervisors and friends who are supportive and can communicate well so that no pressure or obstacles are felt.

What's your background?

I am a psychology student at Universitas Indonesia who was born in Jakarta. However, since childhood, I was raised in Depok City with my family. Since I was in junior high school, I who love social studies, have dreamed of working in a big company in Jakarta that has a beautiful tall building. Then, since high school, I became more confident in my goals when I was in junior high school and for some reason, I wanted to major in psychology so I could work as an HRD. Until finally I managed to enter the psychology department and was increasingly challenged to seek experience in a professional environment as an HR, such as joining this internship program. I am quite active in surfing various job portals to find internships, such as Tech in Asia. Through the job portal, I found out about Payfazz and finally I applied as an HR Intern here. I was rejected once, but I didn't give up until finally I was given the opportunity to stay here for almost 6 months.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes, I think anyone can do a job as an HR intern if they really have the desire to learn more about it. In my opinion, everything in this work such as thoroughness that can be developed over time. The skills that must be possessed to be an HR intern position include good communication, detail-oriented, and problem-solving.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

For almost six months working as an HR Intern, in my opinion, the coolest job is doing the end-to-end recruitment process, especially when screening candidate’s cv and interview stage. Both of those things were quite challenging because I had to really bring out my abilities to judge the most ideal candidate. Doing the end-to-end process is also one of the tasks that makes me quite enjoy working on it. I feel that the work as an HR intern fits perfectly with my abilities and background as a psychology student.

What is the minus of your job?

Sometimes, when the workload is high, I find it difficult to handle work if it is done after working hours because usually I already have another schedule after working hours, which is doing activities related to academics, such as assignments. However, if I can't do the job because I have a college assignment to do, my supervisor doesn't forbid it and instead permits me to focus more on my campus things. The challenge that may be faced by other people, especially students when working in this Internal HR position, is how to manage time for internships and lectures well.
